Amanda Nisbet: “Designing with Antiques in the Modern Home”

Since its beginning in 1998, Amanda Nisbet Design has become one of New York’s most distinctive, sought-after creators of refreshing, abundant elegance.  Amanda Nisbet’s signature bold embrace of pattern, color and texture, all held in exquisite balance, has enlivened exclusive residences in North America and Europe, and resulted in gracious, welcoming interiors that express Nisbet’s special alchemy of refinement and livability.

Despite her formal art history training and years at Christie’s auction house, Nisbet prefers to upend the usual design rules in favor of a fresh, energetic approach that draws as much upon intuition as tradition. Nisbet never loses her sense of wit and whimsy, or her conviction that a home is for living in, and the designer’s job is first and foremost to answer a client’s needs, wishes and dreams. “I design with the intent of bringing joy into people’s homes,” says Nisbet.

In addition to her interior design work, Nisbet has created an eponymous textile line, a lighting collection in partnership with The Urban Electric Company and a small designer rug collaboration with Studio Four and Kyle Bunting. In 2014, Amanda launched her first comprehensive furniture and lighting collection in partnership with Niermann Weeks.

Her projects have been showcased in numerous publications, among them Elle Decor, House Beautiful, Coastal Living, New York Spaces, Oprah at Home, Traditional Home, Veranda, The New York Times, Town & Country, and The Washington Post.
